Festivals and Fairs
Author Spencer Bolejack brings traditional, living Appalachian history to life with hands on demonstrations and teaching events. He showcases unique aspects of Appalachian or historical American folk skills such as woodworking, fire making and use, herbs and folks medicine, traps and snares, tracking and more. Many of the old ways have modern relevance with takeaway knowledge such as knots, ties, first aid, fire safety, tool use and care, awareness of one's surroundings and nature study. He has been featured at many regional events including Richmond's Field Day of the Past, the Saltville Historical Society annual Civil War Re-enactment, The Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee NC, and has attended Hart's Square - America's largest living history event - for over 15 years!
Observers learn to appreciate their modern life while also recognizing the value of older ways - things almost forgotten, but not lost!
